The Algarve

The Algarve is the southern region of mainland Portugal with an area of 5412km2 and, according to the 2011 census data, has 451,005 inhabitants.

This is the most important tourist region of Portugal and Europe. Factors such as the weather (mild winters and hot, dry summers with warm sea waters), beautiful natural landscapes, great historical heritage and a rich and varied gastronomy, gives the Algarve the statue of the most visited region, by national and international tourists.

In economic terms, the Algarve is, after the Vale do Tejo and Madeira, the richest region of Portugal.
